Order of Yaa Gyasi Books

Yaa Gyasi is a Ghanaian-American author recognized for her novels Homegoing and Transcendent Kingdom. Her debut novel, Homegoing, received the National Book Critics Circle’s John Leonard Award for best first book and the PEN/Hemingway Award for a first work of fiction. In 2016, she was also honored as one of the National Book Foundation’s “5 under 35.” Born in Ghana, Yaa lived there until her family relocated to the United States in 1991, after which she moved between several states before finally settling in Huntsville, Alabama. Inspired by Toni Morrison from a young age, she pursued a writing career. Yaa attended Stanford University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, followed by a Master of Fine Arts from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa.
