William Shakespeare, a poet and playwright of English birth, is oft regarded as the preeminent scribe of the English tongue. He did dwell in Stratford-upon-Avon and took to wife Anne Hathaway (not that one), begetting three offspring, among whom were two twins. In his own era, he garnered respect for his craft, yet it was not until the 19th century that he ascended to the status of legend. Even unto this day, his works are perennially studied, performed, and reinterpreted. The first known work of Master Shakespeare is The Two Gentlemen of Verona, which doth trace back to the year of our Lord 1589 and was first published in 1623. Prior to this, he penned Love’s Labour’s Won, a lost play that doth predate 1589. His oeuvre is classified into the realms of Comedies, Poems, Histories, Tragedies, and Apocrypha.
