Order of Victoria Holt Books

Eleanor Burford Hibbert (1906-1993) was a British writer known for her historical fiction, gothic fiction, and romance novels. She was an incredibly prolific author, publishing under several pseudonyms, including Victoria Holt, Jean Plaidy, and Philippa Carr, which are her most recognized names. Additionally, she wrote as Eleanor Burford (her birth name), Elbur Ford, Kathleen Kellow, Anne Percival, and Ellalice Tate. The name Jean Plaidy was associated with her regency novels, while Victoria Holt was reserved for her gothic romances. Her historical novels under the Plaidy name received acclaim for their accuracy and quality. Eleanor authored numerous series, including the Tudor Saga, Daughters of England, Stuart Saga, Georgian Saga, Plantagenet Saga, and Queens of England series. Influenced by the Brontës, Charles Dickens, and Leo Tolstoy, she passed away in 1993 while on a cruise between Greece and Egypt. Eleanor made her publishing debut in 1941 with Daughter of Anna under her birth name, though her works under that name are no longer available. Her first novel as Jean Plaidy was Together They Ride in 1945, and her most famous pseudonym, Victoria Holt, debuted with Mistress of Mellyn. Below, we have listed her books by various pen names, organized by publication date and chronological order.
