Valeria Luiselli is a truly global author. Born in Mexico City, she spent her childhood in various locations including the United States, Costa Rica, South Africa, and South Korea due to her father's diplomatic career. She is best known for her award-winning novel, Faces in the Crowd. At 16, she returned to Mexico City with her mother but completed her high school education in India. She began her college studies at the University of Mexico, pursuing degrees in Spanish and French. After graduating, Luiselli relocated to New York, where she has remained, appreciating the city's blend of foreignness and familiarity.
