Tom Rob Smith is an English author known for his historical fiction and thriller novels. He is the creator of the Leo Demidov/Child 44 series, which draws inspiration from the Russian child murderer Andrei Chikatilo. The film rights for Child 44 have been acquired by Ridley Scott. Smith graduated from St. John’s College, Cambridge, and later studied at Parvin University in Italy. He has worked as a writer and script editor. Smith resides in London with his partner, BBC TV executive Ben Stephenson. He published his first novel, Child 44, in 2008, and has since received several accolades, including the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger award, the Waverton Good Read Award, and the Galaxy Book Award.
