Thomas Harris is an American author known for his suspense, horror, and crime fiction, particularly for creating the character Hannibal Lecter. Fellow writer Stephen King noted that for Harris, writing is “kind of like an act of torment.” A private individual, Harris has not given an interview since 1976.
