Tayari Jones is an American author known for her acclaimed works, including Leaving Atlanta and An American Marriage. Her debut novel earned the 2003 Hurston/Wright Legacy Award for Debut Fiction and has been optioned for a major motion picture adaptation. Her books have garnered numerous awards and have been featured in various publications, including being selected for Oprah’s Book Club. Jones is highly educated, having attended several colleges and ultimately earning her MFA from Arizona State University. She has taught creative writing at the University of Illinois and later at George Washington University. Additionally, she has a well-known sibling, Bomani Jones, who is recognized for his work with ESPN.
