Stephen Booth is an English crime fiction novelist who previously worked as a journalist for various newspapers and magazines, including the Wilmslow Advertiser, Huddersfield Examiner, and Worksop Guardian. He left journalism in 2001 to focus on his career as a full-time novelist. His series features characters Ben Cooper and Diane Fry, set in Derbyshire. Booth published his first novel, Black Dog, in 2000, marking the start of the Cooper & Fry series. Since then, he has released approximately one book each year.
