Stephanie Barron is an American author known for her mystery and thriller novels. She writes the Merry Folger series under the name Francine Mathews and the Being a Jane Austen Mysteries series. Stephanie studied European History at Princeton while also working part-time for the Miami Herald and the San Jose Mercury News. Although she pursued a Doctorate in history, she ultimately earned her Master’s degree. Additionally, Stephanie has experience working as an intelligence analyst for the CIA. She made her publishing debut in 1994 with the novel Death in the Off Season, written as Francine Mathews. In 1996, she published her first book as Stephanie Barron, Jane and the Unpleasantness at Scargrave Manor, which launched her Jane Austen Mysteries series.
