Simon Toyne is a British author known for his thriller novels, including the Sancti Trilogy. He obtained a degree in English and Drama from Goldsmiths College in London before embarking on a two-decade career in television. After leaving his job as a TV producer, Simon spent six months in France to focus on developing his writing skills, aiming to create a thriller. During a stormy night crossing the English Channel with his family, they sought a hotel in Rouen, France. The sight of the Rouen Cathedral spire inspired him to conceive the citadel in Sanctus. Simon Toyne published his first novel, Sanctus, in 2011. His works have been translated into 27 languages and released in 40 countries.
