Samantha Irby is an American author, comedian, and blogger, recognized for her essay collections, including We Are Never Meeting in Real Life and Wow, No Thank You. In 2021, she received the Lambda Literary Award for bisexual nonfiction. Irby grew up in Illinois and attended Northern Illinois University but dropped out following her mother's death. She began blogging in 2009 with her site, bitches gotta eat, and later published a collection of essays that reached the New York Times Bestsellers list. Besides her writing and comedy, Irby has contributed to television shows like Shrill and Sex and the City.
