S.E. Hinton

S.E. Hinton, an American author known for her young adult fiction and children's literature, gained fame for her iconic novel The Outsiders, which she wrote as a teenager. The story revolves around two rival gangs, narrated from the perspective of the Greasers. In 1983, Francis Ford Coppola adapted The Outsiders into a film featuring a star-studded cast that included Rob Lowe, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Tom Cruise, Diane Lane, Emilio Estevez, Patrick Swayze, and C. Thomas Howell. Hinton collaborated with Coppola on the screenplay for the adaptation of Rumble Fish, which he also directed. Hinton made her literary debut in 1967 with The Outsiders.
