Rumaan Alam is recognized for his novels Leave the World Behind, That Kind of Mother, and Rich and Pretty. He studied writing at Oberlin College. Besides being an author, Alam has contributed to publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, New York Magazine, and Buzzfeed. He also serves as a contributing editor for The New Republic. In his personal life, Alam resides in New York with his husband and their two children.
