Robert Thorogood

Robert Thorogood is an English author known for his crime fiction novels and is particularly recognized as the creator of the BBC 1 series Death in Paradise. He attended Uppingham School in Rutland and studied History at Downing College, Cambridge. While at Cambridge, he was a member of the university’s student comedy troupe Footlights, touring in 1993 and serving as President in 1994. After graduating, he established a theatre company that performed in small theatres and schools, with a notable production of Moliere’s The Miser, which he directed and acted in alongside Robert Webb, David Mitchell, and Olivia Colman. For many years, Robert wrote scripts for the BBC, ITV, and independent film companies, but prior to 2011, the only script of his that aired was a Radio 4 afternoon play titled From Abstraction, which focused on the life of Paul Wolfskehl.
