Robert Ellis is an American crime fiction author. His interest in the genre was sparked by the murder of a woman near his childhood home, along with influences from Hitchcock films and the writings of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, John Buchan, and Dashiell Hammett. Prior to his writing career, he worked in film, television, and advertising. His decision to become an author was prompted by an incident where a mobster, mistaking his camera for a rifle while he was gathering surveillance footage of him running for public office, froze in fear.
