Order of Rick Reed Books

Rick Reed is an American author and a retired homicide detective from Evansville, Indiana. He has written the Jack Murphy series, a collection of crime thrillers centered on the most heinous serial killers and Detective Jack Murphy's pursuit of them. Reed has extensive training in various police scenarios, including hostage negotiation, and is also a handwriting expert. During his career, he created an underground newspaper called The Monkey Boy Gazette, which humorously criticized his fellow officers, politicians, and other public figures. After publishing a negative article about the mayor, an investigation was launched by the police, which revealed his identity and did not earn him many allies. When the Chief of Police assigned him to lead Internal Affairs, his rationale was straightforward: “everyone already hates you.” This experience prompted him to pursue writing, leading to the publication of his true crime book, Blood Trail.
