Richard Preston is an American writer known for his medical suspense and thriller novels, as well as non-fiction works. He has explored various subjects, including bio-terrorism, viruses, and his personal interest in redwood trees. After Michael Crichton's passing, Preston completed the novel Micro. He is also the brother of bestselling author Douglas Preston. His first published book, the non-fiction work First Light: The Search for the Edge of the Universe, was released in 1987, and his debut novel, The Cobra Event, came out in 1998.
