Rennie Airth is a South African author known for his mystery novels, particularly the John Madden series. In addition to his writing career, he has served as a foreign correspondent for Reuters. His novel River of Darkness received recognition, being shortlisted for four crime fiction awards and winning the Grand Prix de Littérature Policière in France. Airth currently resides in Italy. He published his first novel, Snatch!, in 1969, but it took 12 years for his second novel, Once a Spy, to follow. His third novel came 18 years later, after which he began to publish more frequently.
