Qiu Xiaolong is a Chinese writer known for his crime thriller novels, poetry, and translation work. He is the creator of the Inspector Chen series. Xiaolong initially moved to the United States to write a book about poet T.S. Eliot but was unable to return to China due to political circumstances. He resides in St. Louis, Missouri, with his wife and daughter. Qiu Xiaolong published his first novel, Death of a Red Heroine, in 2000, marking the beginning of the Inspector Chen series.
