Peter Bowen (1945-2020) was an American writer known for his western and mystery novels. In addition to his work as a novelist, he had experience as a cowboy, hunting and fishing guide, folk singer, poet, and essayist. He is most recognized for his Gabriel Du Pre series. Under the pseudonym Coyote Jack, Peter also wrote humorous and hunting articles. He resided in Livingston, Montana. Peter Bowen published his first novel, Gentleman and Scout, in 1987.
