He teaches in a Psychology Department and has published research on social psychology topics such as political violence, persuasion, and both verbal and non-verbal behavior. An avid reader of history, psychology, and various fiction genres, Mick utilized his psychological expertise to craft the Arrowood Mysteries series, set in Victorian London. He divides his time between Brighton and Cambridge, England. Mick made his debut as a novelist in 2017 with the book Arrowood.
