Michel Benoit is a pseudonymous French author known for his thriller novels and expertise in religious studies. He earned a PhD in Pharmacology before spending 22 years as an unordained monk in the Benedictine order at the abbey of St. Benoit sur Loire. Due to his unconventional beliefs, he left the Church to pursue a writing career. His novel The Thirteenth Apostle draws on his extensive research into the life of Jesus Christ. Benoit published his memoir, Prisoner of God, in 1992, and his first fictional work, The Thirteenth Apostle, was released in 2006.
