Order of Manning Coles Books

Manning Coles was the author of the Tommy Hambledon series. The name Manning Coles is a pseudonym for two British writers, Adelaide Oke Manning and Cyril Coles. Together, they wrote 26 books featuring Thomas Hambledon as the main character. Coles and Manning became acquainted after living near each other in East Meon. Both served during World War I, with Manning working at the war office and Coles in British intelligence, which contributed to the gritty realism of their early works. Following the war, their writing took on a lighter tone. Many of Hambledon's original adventures were inspired by Coles's experiences during World War I, including his time spent behind enemy lines.
