Laura Joh Rowland is an American writer known for her historical fiction and mystery novels. She is the author of the Sano Ichiro series and the Secret Adventures of Charlotte Brontë series. Laura is the granddaughter of Chinese and Korean immigrants and grew up in Michigan, where she obtained a B.S. in microbiology and a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan. Her professional background includes roles as a chemist, microbiologist, sanitary inspector, and quality engineer. A survivor of Hurricane Katrina, she lost her home in New Orleans and currently resides in New York City.
