Laila Lalami is an author known for her novel The Moor’s Account, which won the American Book Award and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. She also wrote The Other Americans, a finalist for the National Book Award. Born in Rabat, Lalami received her education in Morocco, Britain, and the United States. Besides her novels, she contributes essays to publications such as The Nation, the Washington Post, and the New York Times. Lalami is also a creative writing professor at the University of California at Riverside, where she resides near Los Angeles.
