Kate Jarvik Birch is an American author known for her YA fantasy novels, particularly the Perfected series. She has had a passion for writing since childhood, penning her first novel in fourth grade, with a protagonist that resembled her. Over the years, her essays and stories have been featured in publications such as Isotope: A Journal of Literary Nature and Science Writing, Saint Ann’s Review, Scissors and Spackle, and Indiana Review. Kate earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing from the University of Utah in 2005. Her artwork has been showcased in films and television series, including Glee and 21 Jump Street. She resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her husband and their three children.
