Order of John Buchan Books

John Buchan, 1st Baron Tweedsmuir (1875-1940), was a Scottish novelist known for his adventure stories and numerous non-fiction works. He served as the 15th Governor General of Canada. His most renowned novel, The Thirty-Nine Steps, was adapted into the Alfred Hitchcock film The 39 Steps. Buchan featured the novel's main character, Richard Hannay, in four additional novels as a major character and in two others as a minor character. After his death in 1940, he was honored with a state funeral in Canada before his ashes were transported to the United Kingdom. Buchan's literary career began with the publication of Sir Quixote of the Moors in 1895. His last original work was the non-fiction book The History of the First World War, which was published posthumously in 1991. His final novel, The Long Traverse, was released in 1941.
