Joe Ide

Joe Ide is a Japanese-American author praised as the “best thing to happen to mystery writing in a long time.” His love for the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is evident in his critically acclaimed novels, including IQ, Righteous, and Wrecked. Growing up in South Central Los Angeles during the turbulent 1970s, particularly after the Watts riots, he was surrounded by poverty and a predominantly black community. His experiences with his almost exclusively black friends during that time have significantly influenced the characters he creates.
