Joe Buff is an American author known for his naval techno-thrillers. His interest in the Navy and military stems from his father, who served in the U.S. Navy, and his uncle, a merchant mariner. Prior to his writing career, he worked for 20 years as a financial risk analyst at companies like Guardian Life, Morgan Stanley, Towers Perrin, and Merrill Lynch. In 1997, he transitioned to writing full-time, initially focusing on non-fiction before moving to fiction. Buff published his first novel, Deep Sound Channel, in 2000.
