Jay MacLarty (1943-2010) was an American author known for his techno-thriller novels, all featuring the character Simon Leonidovich. A lifelong reader, Jay decided to write himself, and his initial effort demonstrated his talent but was deemed too lengthy and literary for a debut author. He was encouraged to create a book with broader appeal, leading to the Simon Leonidovich series that combined elements of business, politics, and technology, reflecting his own experiences. He made his novelistic debut in 2003 with The Courier and subsequently published three more books, the last being Choke Point in 2007.
