James W. Huston is an American novelist known for his military and legal thrillers. Prior to his writing career, Huston served in the U.S. Navy and practiced law, a profession he continues to engage in today. In the 1990s, he began writing editorials for local newspapers before venturing into fiction. After facing repeated rejections with his first two novels, Huston found success with his third attempt. His literary influences include Patrick O’Brian, Ernest Hemingway, and Marilynne Robinson. Huston became a published author in 1998 with the release of his third novel, Balance of Power, which was soon followed by The Price of Power the next year.
