James Herbert

James Herbert (1943-2013) was an English writer known for his horror and dark fantasy novels. He created the Rats series and the David Ash series, with several of his works adapted into films. His novel The Secret of Crickley Hall was recently turned into a BBC One television serial. Stephen King awarded him the World Horror Convention Grand Master Award. In addition to writing, Herbert also designed his own book covers and promotional materials. He published his first novel, The Rats, in 1974, which had an initial print run of 100,000 copies that sold out within three weeks.
