James Deegan is the pen name of a Scottish author known for his military thriller novels, particularly the John Carr series. He is one of the most operationally experienced members of Britain’s elite Special Air Service, having participated in missions in Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Africa, Iraq, and Afghanistan, as well as both Gulf Wars. Deegan received two decorations for gallantry during his time in the SAS. He was raised in Niddrie, Edinburgh, Scotland, and has four children.
