J.D. Salinger

J.D. Salinger (1919-2010) was an American writer, renowned for his novel The Catcher in the Rye. He developed the character Holden Caulfield in the short story Slight Rebellion off Madison and, following World War II, began crafting his iconic novel. Although The Catcher in the Rye was initially intended for adults, it resonated with young adults due to its exploration of teenage angst, confusion, and rebellion. Salinger spent much of his life avoiding the spotlight and passed away in 2010 from natural causes. His first and only published novel, The Catcher in the Rye, was released in 1951. A neighbor claimed that Salinger had written 15 unpublished novels but chose not to release them. Below is a list of J.D. Salinger’s works in the order of their original publication.
