Order of Howard Engel Books

Howard Engel was a Canadian mystery writer renowned for his long-running Benny Cooperman series, which is set in the Niagara region and features a Canadian Jewish detective as the protagonist. In addition to his writing career, Engel served as a producer for CBC for many years. He was married twice; his first wife, Marian Engel, was also an author but died young. They had two children together, and their daughter Charlotte became a television producer. Engel later married another novelist, Janet Hamilton, with whom he had a child. In 2001, Howard experienced a stroke that resulted in alexia sine agraphia, impairing his ability to comprehend written words, but it did not hinder his writing, allowing him to publish another book. Howard Engel passed away in 2019.
