Heather O’Neill is a Canadian novelist, poet, and screenwriter born in Montreal, where she attended McGill University. She spent part of her childhood in the Southern United States before returning to Montreal, where she has lived ever since. O’Neill has received numerous awards for her work and has been both short and longlisted for many others. Her accolades include the Canada Reads competition, the Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction, the Danuta Gleed Literary Award, and the Writers’ Trust Fellowship in 2019, among others.
