Order of Harry Kemelman Books

Harry Kemelman (1908-1996) was an American mystery novelist known for his Rabbi Small series. A Boston native, he obtained his B.A. in English Literature from Boston University and his M.A. in English philology from Harvard. He began his career as an English teacher. During World War II, Kemelman served as a wage administrator for the U.S. Army Transportation Corps and the War Assets Administration. After the war, he embarked on his writing career. Kemelman published his first work, "The Nine Mile Walk," in 1947 for Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, which is included in a collection of the same name. His debut novel, "Friday the Rabbi Slept Late," was released in 1964 and won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel. Below is a list of Harry Kemelman’s books in the order of their original publication.
