Order of Harper Lee Books

Harper Lee (1926-2016) was an American novelist known for her Southern Gothic fiction. She gained fame for her iconic novel To Kill a Mockingbird, which earned the Pulitzer Prize. The novel was inspired by her experiences growing up in the Deep South during the 1930s. Born Nelle Harper Lee in Monroeville, Alabama, she was the daughter of a former newspaper editor and lawyer. A tomboy with a passion for reading, she was also a close friend of Truman Capote. After living modestly, she received a year’s salary to help her pursue her writing aspirations. For many years, her only published novel was 1960’s To Kill a Mockingbird, until the release of Go Set a Watchman in 2015, a work written in the mid-1950s.
