Fred Vargas is a French writer known for her crime thriller novels. She created the Commissaire Adamsberg series, which has received the International Dagger Award twice. Additionally, she won the award for her book The Three Evangelists. Vargas, a Medieval historian, often incorporates this interest into her works. She is the twin sister of painter Jo Vargas. Fred Vargas made her English-language debut with the novel Have Mercy On Us All, translated from French and published in 2003.
