Order of Forrest Carter Books

Forrest Carter

Forrest Carter is the pseudonym of American author and political speechwriter Asa Earl Carter (1925-1979). He adopted this alias to pose as a Cherokee, but after the release of The Rebel Outlaw: Josey Wales, The New York Times exposed him as Asa Earl Carter, a Southern Klansman. Regardless of one's views on his politics, his novel The Rebel Outlaw: Josey Wales achieved significant success and was adapted into the film The Outlaw Josey Wales by Clint Eastwood. Forrest Carter became a published novelist in 1975 with Gone to Texas (originally titled The Rebel Outlaw: Josey Wales). Below is a list of Forrest Carter’s books in the order of their initial publication.
