Order of Eva Ibbotson Books

Eva Ibbotson (1925-2010) was a British author known for her romance and children’s/YA fantasy novels. Born in Vienna, Austria, her family relocated to England as Hitler rose to power. She studied at Bedford College, Cambridge University, and the University of Durham. Initially aspiring to be a physiologist, she changed her path upon realizing the extent of animal testing involved. Eva married, raised a family, and became a teacher. She started her career as a television writer and transitioned to children’s literature a decade later. Her imaginative and humorous books often include magical creatures and settings, created to help alleviate her readers' fears of the supernatural, which she preferred not to dwell on. Eva Ibbotson published her first book, The Great Ghost Rescue, in 1975. Below is a list of her works in the order of their publication.
