Order of Elizabeth Goudge Books

Elizabeth de Beauchamp Goudge was a bestselling British author known for her children's books and novels. She received the prestigious Carnegie Award for her work, The Little White Horse, and has been recognized by J.K. Rowling as a significant influence on her career and the Harry Potter series. Goudge was born in the cathedral city of Wells, where her father was employed at the Theological college. The family later relocated to Ely, where they remained until her father's passing. Goudge and her mother took a vacation in Marldon, but when World War II began, they moved there permanently. It was in Marldon that she wrote many of her early works. In 1951, following her mother's death, she moved to Oxfordshire, where she lived until her own death.
