Order of E.E. “Doc” Smith Books

Edward Elmer “Doc” Smith, Ph.D. (1890-1965) was an American science fiction novelist, often regarded as the father of the space opera subgenre. Besides his writing career, Smith was a food engineer. He authored the Lensman, Skylark, and Family d’Alembert series. Smith favored incorporating feasible technologies in his stories, stating, “the more highly improbable a concept is — short of being contrary to mathematics whose fundamental operations involve no neglect of infinitesimals — the better I like it.” His debut novel, The Skylark of Space, was published in 1928, while his last credited work, Revolt of the Galaxy (co-authored with Stephen Goldin), was released posthumously in 1983.
