She is particularly recognized for her young adult novel A Wounded Name, which is inspired by Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and for the adult thriller The Butterfly Garden, the first installment in The Collector series. Prior to her writing career, Hutchison held various jobs, including working at a Boy Scout camp, a craft store, a bookstore, and even participating in the Renaissance Faire as a human combat chess piece. In her personal life, she has a fondness for thunderstorms, mythology, history, and movies that are enjoyable to re-watch.
