Doris Kearns Goodwin is an American author renowned for her Pulitzer Prize-winning book, No Ordinary Time: Franklin & Eleanor Roosevelt: The Home Front in World War II. Besides her writing, she has experience as a sports journalist and political commentator. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, a passion she shared in her memoir, Wait Till Next Year. Goodwin made history in 1979 as the first female journalist to enter the Boston Red Sox locker room and later appeared as a commentator in Ken Burns’ Baseball. After her upbringing in New York, she attended Colby College in Maine and completed her Ph.D. in government at Harvard University.
