Diane McKinney-Whetstone is an American author residing in Philadelphia, where she draws inspiration from the city for her writing. She views the blocks and neighborhoods of the City of Brotherly Love as characters in her narratives. The individuals in her stories experience setbacks, make errors, stumble, fail, and ultimately rise to new heights and improve themselves. She has been honored with the American Library Association Black Caucus Literary Award for Fiction on two occasions and has also received a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. Diane lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Greg. She made her debut as a published novelist in 1996 with the book Tumbling.
