David Thurlo is an American author known for his mystery novels that incorporate Native American themes. He collaborates on all his works with his wife, Aimee Thurlo. His interest in writing sparked while he was teaching and Aimee was at home writing. He began to observe her process, and they soon discovered they could write together in a unified voice. His series include Ella Clah, Sister Agatha, Lee Nez, and Navajo Rez. David Thurlo published his first novel, Second Shadow, in 1990. His second book, Blackening Song, which debuted in 1995, initiated the Ella Clah series, for which he is most recognized.
