David Ricciardi is an American author and outdoorsman who debuted with the novel Warning Light. His adventurous life has greatly influenced his writing. Describing Ricciardi as an outdoorsman goes beyond a simple love for camping; he has backpacked through the mountains of Alaska and the western United States, facing the elements head-on. He has also undergone training with law enforcement and U.S. special operations. An enthusiastic sailor, he once awoke during his shift on a sailboat to discover the vessel was heading the wrong way through the Atlantic Ocean, with a crew member suffering from hypothermia. He survived that ordeal and is now a writer and a certified scuba rescue diver.
