David J. Gatward is an English author known for his crime fiction novels, particularly the DCI Harry Grimm series. Born in the Cotswolds and raised in Wensleydale and Lincolnshire, he developed a passion for reading and writing early on. He published his first book at eighteen and subsequently worked in publishing, became a father, and wrote children's and teen fiction. Before the pandemic, he operated a small publishing firm, but later returned to writing crime fiction based on the encouragement of fellow writers. His experiences and affection for the Yorkshire Dales served as inspiration for the DCI Harry Grimm series. Gatward made his crime novel debut in 2020 with "Grimm Up North."
