Dave Bara is an American science fiction author known for the Lightship Chronicles series. He was born during the early days of the space age and grew up captivated by the Gemini and Apollo space programs on television, aspiring to be an astronaut. This passion led to an interest in science fiction, influenced by shows like Star Trek, Lost in Space, The Outer Limits, and The Twilight Zone. As a teenager, he read works by authors such as Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Frederick Pohl, Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, Gordon Dickson, and Joe Haldeman. This inspired him to start writing, a pursuit he continued through college, eventually leading to the creation of the Lightship Chronicles. Dave Bara published his first novel, Speedwing, in 2012.
